School Plans for Solar Eclipse
Launch the media gallery 1 playerArlington Public Schools is planning to take advantage of the learning opportunity that the partial eclipse will provide.
There are educational lessons as well as viewing opportunities that will be afforded the students. The lessons, as well as the viewing, will differ according to the age of the students.
All students will be asked to return a participation form that must be signed by the parent/guardian. This participation form gives the parent/guardian a choice on whether or not they want their child(ren) to participate in the viewing of the eclipse.
The district provides each viewer with protective eyeware. The eyeware was purchased from a NASA recommended company and conforms to and meets the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2, filters for direct observation of the sun. Students will be given safety training before any viewing will take place. Students who do not have a participation form with parents signature on file will not be allowed to participate in the viewing of the partial eclipse.
